I am thinking about getting a 91 bayliner with a 3.0l mercruiser I/O. It already has a wakeboarding tower on it with a 5 blade stanless steel prop. I am not new to wakeboarding but cant afford to by a direct drive in any good condition. Question is.. if i put a ballest bag in the ski storage in the middle will it increase the wake alot? (enough to do flips 360, etc.) I weigh about 155 pounds and my friend about the same. If we do that will it throw out a big enough wake without putting to big of a strain on the engine??

As been suggested in many other threads, bring along a group of friends equal to the weight you think you would be achieving with your ballast bag, then go for a ride. People or water, you need to compare wake and handling between a light and full load. Filled with your buds Does it make the wake you want? Does it hold speed OK?

I had a friend wakeboard behind my 16' outboard about 10 yrs ago. Very small wake and no tower. He was busting out flips and 360s the entire ride...

A bayliner 195 with a 3.0L puts out enough wake to do flips all on its own.

Yes, a locker ballast bag will help with the size of the wake but like has been suggested above the wake will let you do it now. Technique helps the most. A pro can do a bankroll on the flat without any wake. With the 3.0 my opinion would be that a vented 4 blade would give you as much help as a prop like a High-5 and costs less. Weight in the bow and then trimming up after the boat is at speed usually gives the best wake with an i/O
