ok well a while back i seen one before and i am not sure where it was at, but someone made this little gas grill made for a pontoon boat, it clamped to the side of the railing and hangs over the water and is a little gas grill. Does anyone know where they have these at?

My neighbor has one on his 'toon.
Two problems you should be aware of...one is wind.
The second is that it burns too hot - you really can't adjust it down so it's real easy to burn stuff.

Not sure of the make/model.
It's a small round job - not too much much bigger than a foot in diameter - that has a small propane bottle which attaches to a pipe coming out the bottom.

I've had my full size grill on a 'toon before and wind was a bigger issue than the little unit.

Most people I see that use them on our river pull up the leeward side of an big island so the wind thing isn't that a big of a deal.
Again, so you're aware.

Also, the lid is attached with a wire. The lid gets very hot. Watch out where it dangles when you remove it.

i'm going to have a bracket made for mine, that will slip over the top rail, with led on each side of the rail the with a thumb screw to secure it. the top part is going to be like a 3 sided box, to shield the wind. this way i can set my small camping 2 burn stove on it, or my small propane grill, can also double as a fish cleaning table.

I saw a couple of these on line at www.cabelas.com
They had one that mounted on the rail and also one that mounts on a pedastal.....both had the small propane canister on the side.

KEEP IT FUN...KEEP IT SAFE!

I bought one last summer. Used it four times. I thought I would learn how to cook with it after using that many times. No way. You are absolutely right, they burn way too hot. They also are way over priced.
Next year I will just by a regular gas grill and use the mounting that came with the Magma grill.

Ok, I don't mean to nitpick but there is a huge difference between a bbq pit and a GRILL! Steaks, burgers, or chicken cooked on a grill is NOT bbq. Bbq=slow and low Grilled=hot and fast

Ok so the rant is over, this is what I did:

I had a few legs to some rolling walkers (like old people use) laying around so I mounted those vertically on the outside of my rail.
Then I bent some 3/4" electrical conduit out, right, right and down again.
Then I attached a piece of painted plywood to the conduit, and I attached some 1/2" pvc around the perimeter of the plywood to act as a rail.
This gives me a multi-use platform for grilling or whatever.

Here is a picture of me grilling some steaks last year. I have since made the table wider to accommodate the propane tank a little better.

I was resisting that rant, thanks for doing it for me! I have 3 different cooking devices on my patio, a charcoal grill, gas grill, and a natural fired BBQ. All vastly different in purpose and use. (I've gone off on a couple friends already when they say they are having a BBQ, when they mean grill)

Re: BBQ Pit on a Pontoon ?

I've had this on my mind for a few weeks since purchasing my toon. I just wonder about the grease and juices dripping down the side of the boat. I had the idea to use a small gas grill and seal up the bottom with stainless to prevent this problem. Still speculating, but will post pics if I get it done soon.

This might be your best bet.
http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/S-...arbecue+Gas+Grill+with+Square+Rail+Mount.html
It's actually made for pontoon boats as opposed to something you have to modify yourself. Notice the mounting bracket. It clamps securely to your rail and allows you to swing the grill out over the water to minimize the chances of boat damage from heat, grease, etc. I'll probably buy one of these myself soon (from Iboats of course if they offer it).
