New to the area, this forum as well. Are there any beach areas accessible by boat (ok to anchor)? Looking for a fun family place with clean shore/water.

Re: Beach access by boat Jax, FL area

ramp access is at Beach Blvd, and the intercoastal water way. great ramp at mayport ferry, but current can be swift. clean beach that can be anchored off, Little Talbot Island, Fort George island. these are both sort of inlets, as far as the ocean, it is very hard to anchor off. there are some nice areas in the St Augustine area. Ponce Inlet, south of Daytona.

if you are military, the National Guard has a nice setting near state rd 16 and 21 Camp Blanding, with a nice Lake. Kingsley lake. you can get a free pass.

Re: Beach access by boat Jax, FL area

Sorry to resurrect an old old thread, moved to Jax in beginning of the year and have been out in our 25ft cruiser 5-6 times so far. We are looking for the same thing, a decent beach/sandy area for the kids to play. We keep our boat over at NAS but can trailer it anywhere.

The little island downstream from downtown looks nice but where we stopped it was covered in glass.. :( Found a couple sandy areas up Black Creek, we stopped there yesterday but I was truly amazed at the lack of intelligence or at least common sense of all the kids around (swimming across the creek with no life jackets while wakeboarders/cruisers/jetskiis are going through like an interstate, just stupid...)

Guess our next try will be down in St. Aug, that?s closer to our house than the NAS anyway, appreciate any advice, keep is safe!
