Has any body heard of or used this spindal seal kit.? Seams like it says it provides a smooth sealing surface for the rear grease seal. I am contemplating buying a new axle (small 1200 lb axle for 1-1/16 bearings) just because the seal race area on one side is rough. I am always getting water in. A replaceable race for the seal is a great idea.

I installed the spindle kit with new SS bearing buddies early last year and they are working great with a couple thousand miles on them so far and about twenty ramp in-outs.

Cool. So these just basically slip on over the spindle? Are they special size seals then?

One more question that i always get conflicting info... Do you fill your hubs completely with grease in order for buddies to work? I would think so, right?

Just put enough grease in until the center plate moves on the buddy......

I don't know how to post a link. Sorry. But if you go to bearingbuddy.com it is listed at the bottom of the menu. "spindle seal"

Yes..the spindle sleeves slide on over your spindles. I used permatex underneath to ensure good mating, but that is not required. The kit comes with the new seals sized for the spindle sleeves. The stock seals for your hubs wont work.
Bearing buddy instructions say to fully pack the bearings with grease for proper operation of the device. There is alot of controversy on this subject, but I followed the directions to a tee and mine are working great. I check them before each trailering excursion and have only had to pump them up (to the spec in the instructions) a couple times. I can only assume this is due to slight airpockets that I couldnt get out during the initial installation. I also check my hub temps periodically with a laser thermometer gun to ensure the hubs arent getting hot on the trip to the lake and when I get home.

I check them too except my laser gun is my hand...... :) You'll know by feel if they're getting too hot..... I swear by buddies....

I'm looking into Speedi sleeves now. Seem like a better option.

Yep, I would go with the SKF Speedi Sleeve myself.

Ok. So what I ended up doing was installing National Oil Seal Reddi Sleeves. They are the same as skf but a little less expensive. Then I went ahead and drilled the hubs and installed Zerks between the real seal and bearing. I pumped them full and it seemed to go very well. I haven't even taken it aroundtheblock yet.

Same difference. That'll do nicely. I'm not familiar with this grease zerk magic you are doing. IMHO bearing buddies would be a better option having the spring loaded hub deal n all. Good tidings to you my good sir.
