Re: Bearing Buddys
GlasstronJim,
It will probably help you to know how the Bearing Buddy is installed. It's done by pressing it straight onto the hub. Usually you take a piece of 2x4 or 1x4, place it over the end of the Bearing Buddy, and then use a rubber mallet to pound it straight onto the hub. So to remove the Bearing Buddy, you need to work it off. Since it's fitted into place it would be rather difficult to just pull the Bearing Buddy straight off (unless you're super strong). So most people take a rubber mallet and tap the sides of the Bearing Buddy, working it loose. Don't be afraid to use a little force - it's made of metal. Hit it on one side, then the other, going back and forth. The Bearing Buddy should work it's way off of the hub, revealing the glorious world of bearings and grease inside your hub.
There are plenty of forum discussions about how to replace your bearings. Just search for the threads and good luck.
