Just coming back from a wonderful day of boating and tubing. 5 of us out for the day, a couple pops, all was well. <br />Wife and I are driving our car in front of my friend who was towing my boat. So we stop at a red light and some guy comes up to him and tells him that the trailer is smoking real bad from the tire and that the tire was seized. So he calls me on the cell to tell me to pull over. <br />We pull over and check the tire and the entire bearing was gone 
<br />So I tell my buddy to let me drive his truck so that way if something happens to the boat/trailer, it is my fault. I never renewed my CAA membership, so the only way to get the boat home is to drive real slow, or get it towed. <br />We were about 15 miles away, so I drove about 10-15 mph the rest of the way. <br />We made it, but the women said the smoke that was coming off the tire gave them a headache. Plus my buddy's girlfriend was pissed that I was towing the boat home with the wheel assembly in the condition it was in. <br />Well, we made it home. There is only an 1/8" left on the rim by the bolt and cotter pin, if that. <br />So now I half to buy a whole new wheel assembly for that side of the trailer. <br />Lesson learned: Always renew your towing membership at beginning of boating season. <br />Even after that I still had a wonderful day, because ANY day on the water is better than just about anything.
