Well, I'll jump in here so that atleast you know your question is being read. I completely understand your question and can envision how it could be done (as long as the bearing is in a strut so you can get to the forward side of it, and not in deadwood), but have not done that myself. I have replaced cutlass bearings, but only with the shaft pulled. I imagine the job will vary greatly depending upon how long the bearing has been in place (& therefore how tigh/corroded in it is). - Sorry to be of no help.
