Please help

I'm replacing wheel bearings on my shorelander boat trailer. I've tried to find help on the shorlander web site to no avail.

My question is are the inner seal dimensions something that's universal depending on the I.D. size of the bearing. For instance the bearing slides on a 1.062" axel but the diameter where the seal rides is 1.275" and the outside diam. of the seal is roughly 2.0" Will all bearing kits for a 1.062 axel have the same size seals?

Thank you all for your help.

Re: Bearing seal question?

Thank you for your quick response. Does the seal generally have a smaller inside diameter (the rubber part) than the diameter of the spindle where the seal will ride ? ie;a spindle size of 1.275 may take a seal with a 1.250 inside diameter ?

When seal is removed, just get number off it. they are available just about anywhere.
But to answer your Q. Yes it has to be smaller or it will not keep grease in an water out.

Yes...buy a timken bearing kit at farm and fleet. They're less than $10 each. Don't forget to pack the bearings and dont over tighten. For specific size, call shorelandr direct. When I did, they told me the standard size and told me to get one off the shelf somewhere. Keep in mind your trailer may have been modified for a different size, but is highly unlikely

Sorry...looks like you already said 1-1/16.....everything to do with that bearing is standard

Yep. seal ID for 1 1/16" spindle is 1.25". Look here, you'll have the part numbers.

Re: Bearing seal question?

Find double lip seals for your "boat" trailer as they keep water out and grease in. Run of the mill single lip seals are only designed to keep the grease in, cheap bearing kits usually have single lip seals.
