Re: Beat this!!! New Stringer Method(pics)

Thanks for the info johnny. I was reading another post on here and the guy was doing the same thing that i am doing with the conversion and new stringer, transom, and floor. He said that he could only do one stringer a day because of time and that in turn prevented the hull from producing a hook or bow.

Is this an option or a better way to do it?

Also what is the best way to glass them in as far as from front to back, back to front, outer ot inner, or vice versa?

Any info will help tremendously

And thanks again to all that are looking at this and helping along the way, i could not do it without the people who have done it before

I'd be looking at that split rail fence for stringer material, next photo would show 1 missing cross brace.

HAHA yeah i know. Man i didnt know a whole lot about boats except how to fish out of them before i got on here but what i did know is that you dont use raw tree branches for the ribs. maybe some that are put through the saw mill but not just going out in your woods and cutting some and using them. like i said before maybe they were trying to make this a GREEN boat since that is the way to go with everything nowdays...they were just far beyond their time

yeah i know man...oh well...now it has an owner that is going to do the job right and take care of her until i let her go.

I will starting on Mon. with the demo and then hopefully by the end of the week have the product that i will use to put the stringers and transom in.

Still no one has commented on Nida Core? I know it may be more expensive than wood and less than other products of its type but from what i hear from my brother this is the way to go to lighten the boat.

If you hvae the money do it but it still needs a lot of work. Wood in boats = stupid and their should never be any wood in a bot but thats life.

Well the weather looks like it will be pretty nice tomorrow so i will continue the demo. I think that i can do this within three weeks from start to finish. Well finished but not painted.

I think i will get pretty darn far on this week cause they are only calling for one day of rain so i will be in the workshop tinkering with the motor.

i think that i am starting to feel the same way about wood in boats. With the new advances in technoligy now days it seems like there are better things out there. Although money doesnt grow on trees and when i go buy my supplies i may recondider.

AHAHAH Get a $20 1/2ton hoist from homedepot and tie it to a tree then lift your motor off. Or a engine hoist.
