Bigger is better if it fits in the room. My son is 12 and 5' 11 1/2" still on a twin but soon to change. He's growing like a weed.

what ever size yours is. Your not buying a new bed for your self your having to buy one to hand the other one down...lol

IIRC twin and full are the same length, so it doesn’t matter

Need to go to a Queen to get longer. Queen and king are longer than twin and double. We had to get our son a Queen when he was in his mid teens.

California King is the longest but it is narrower than plain King size. Outside of California, it seems that is more difficult to find bedding for CA King, but the way CA is shrinking, that might change too.

Full is wider so if he does get taller then he'll be able to lay corner to corner on it but hopefully by then he'll be able to afford his own "extended" bed.

Heck, I was in a twin when I was a little kid until I left the house. Then I took it with me...lol It was 1/2 of a bunk bed after we moved to a bigger house. My brother was in the other half...

Twin Width: 38" Length: 75"

Twin XL Width: 38" Length: 80"

And a super single is 48 x 84 inches.

And if he gets taller than that, you stand him in the corner and put a couple bungee straps around him.

Twin Width: 38" Length: 75" short shaft

Twin XL Width: 38" Length: 80" long shaft

And a super single is 48 x 84 inches. extra long shaft

 I couldn't resist. I had no idea there is a super single.

And full size or double beds are being phased out from what I have heard so bedding will be getting harder to get.

That's bad news. I've been sleeping with my feet hanging over the end for about 52 years now. I have a hard time sleeping on a queen or king. Can't get comfortable. Guess I better stock up on a couple of full size beds in case I last long enough to need them.

I'm guessing you need to go boating.
Something isn't right in your head if you can't figure out how to get your feet to hang off the end of the bed. :)
