If anyone remembers, was displeased with the 96 Sea Ray, so in the market again. Wanted to see what you "experts" thought about this one? Have not heard alot good about Bayliners (hulls), but this will be strictly rivers, small lakes, etc... A little skeptical about the size of motor 50h?? Thanks again for the advice, also what would you offer???

Re: Been awhile, need advice (again)

Depends on the year and the maintenance regarding Bayliners. They did complete retooling in the early to mid 90's and had to come into compliance with boat manufacturing standards. Earlier Bayliners were not constructed as well, but that doesn't mean they're garbage. With any used boat, the vessel is only as good as the maintenance that went into it. Do your homework on whatever you're buying and inspect it well. If you're not sure what you're looking at, get someone who is. There are tens of thousands of boats for sale, so you don't have to settle.

That being said, any boat over 15-16' should have greater than a 50HP engine.

I believe that's a 16' boat with the entry-level motor. But it probably won't go much over 30 MPH. The fuel economy should be pretty good, though. Hull is rated for 90 HP.
