The PURPLE wire becomes +positive when the key switch is in the ON and also START positions.

The BROWN (TAN) wire goes back to the temp switch and when it gets grounded due to overheating the horn should sound with a continuous BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP not BEEP--BEEP---BEEP etc.

After listening again it is more like a steady beeeeeeeep...or a really fast beep beep....but since disconnecting the tan wire didn't make it go away I guess its shorted to ground somewhere between the horn and the disconnect right?

Right or the horn is faulty, try disconnecting the tan wire right at the horn.

Alright just an update...disconnected the tan wire from the horn and the beeping went away...not sure how a wire shorts to ground in a fiberglass boat but I'll follow it back and find it somewhere...thanks for all the help guys...I wouldn't have gotten anywhere with out yas

Check in the motor, follow the wire from the temp sensor. The fiberglass boat has nothing to do with it.

All those wire should run thru the electrical control cable from the remote back to the engine. If you open up the red cannon plug there will be 2 pins in the center of the plug. One will be the tan and the other a grey. Also on the plug there will be an arrow on each half that shows how they line up. If you hold the plug from the control with the arrow to the right as you look at the tan wire should be the one to the center top.

I am guessing that if there is a bare wire it is inside the engine compartment and not inside the control. It could also be that the horn is shorted as the only alarm for that engine should be for overheat as that engine does not have oil injection..

Good luck and hope you find it!
