Hi,

I have a 2007 Tahoe 195 i/o with a Merc Cruiser. I noticed a random beep last week while riding. It only seems to do it when in rough water, and its not a constant beep. It truly seems to be random.

Now today, it starts a constant beep when i turn the key on. Not when i turn to the accessories, just when I turn it on. THen it continues when I crank it up. (out of water with muffs on).

Any Ideas? I do not own a manual, but if anyone has one, It would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Deck.

Mine does the same thing, It goes off once there is oil pressure.

The alarm system usually monitors 3 things: the oil pressure, the engine temperature, and the drive oil reservoir. The buzzer should come on when the key goes to the "ON" or "RUN" position, and stay on until the engine produces at least 4 psi of oil pressure. If it is staying on after the engine is running, and you have oil pressure according to your gauge, and your temp gauge is within the normal range, then you may be low on outdrive oil. There should be a white plastic oil reservoir on your engine...find it and check the level. I can show you a picture of the drive oil reservoir on a 3.0L engine...your reservoir will be identical.

You have oil pressure and water temp gauges. Have you been monitoring them? Alarms are trying to alert you to potential issues. If the alarm started at rather random intervals, it might be because engine oil level is low and rough water causes the oil pump to suck air. You do know where the dip stick is and are checking it before each outing? Don't mean to sound critical, but people sometimes have very little regard for gauges and an even lesser understanding of what they mean. There should be no confusion about the importance of checking oil LEVEL via the dip stick. That is not the purpose of the Oil PRESSURE gauge.
