I have a 50 HP 2002 Mercury Outboard 2 stroke that started beeping as I was running down the lake and would not stop. It was continuous sound. After taking the boat out of water, turned the ignition key on and it was still beeping. The water pump was pumping water and the oil reservior is full. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Beeping

Did you find the problem? We just bought a boat with a 96 60 hp and it does the same thing,

Re: Beeping

oil reservoir switch os bad. I was getting constant annoying tone (beep). I can see oil level is full. I made sure oil was mixing with fuel and disconnected the warning buzzer. It is a switch in oil tank that goes out. I think it is built into resevoir and you would have to replace tank. I can see oil level so I disconnected wire going to buzzer. The tank was very expensive so that is an alternative. I have 2002 Mercury 40 h.p. If you are in boat looking at motor with cover off, the wire is light blue on lower left side. I have been running mine engine two years with it unhooked with no problem. Just make sure you top off tank before going out. Full tank of oil lasts me all most three monthes. I bought a 2 quart bottle of outboard oil and put under driver seat in case I forget and some.

Re: Beeping

This is one of those boat gremlin things. Spent hours trying to pin down the problem via the manual. All indications were the warning module, so I replaced it. Still beeps. It's getting oil as the exhaust is smoking. May just remove the oil injection and start mixing it myself if I can't figure it out.

Re: Beeping

If it is one continuous beeeeeeeeeeeeep then it is overheating. Steady beep beep beep is oil system.
