Re: Before I buy

Ayuh,...

That was an Entry level package back in 88,+ they went out the door by the truckload,....

Nowadays,... They're usually a Rotted out hull, with a Used up motor....

Much more than Free is Too much for 1.....

Re: Before I buy

Okay, what about an '86 century cuddy cabin with a 350 chevy mercrusier outdrive or an '72 viking deck boat with a 165 mercrusier?

Ayuh,...

The 86, only if it ain't Rotten,+ the motor worn out....

The 72, only if it's a 6cyl.,+ Not the 4cyl..... And of course the hull isn't Rotten,+ the motor worn out...

You've been looking at not only a lot of boats, but a lot of different STYLE of boats. A deck boat is a different animal than a cuddy cabin which is different from a bow rider. What do you want to do with the boat? Instead of looking at every boat available in your area, it sounds like you need to narrow down what kind of boat you want first. THEN worry about the power package.

For I/Os simply stay away from anything OMC. Mercruiser is good and simple - by all accounts Volvo is generally considered better.

I don't know my outboards too well, but I would stay away from Chrysler and Force.

As always - just my humble opinion. ;)

Re: Before I buy

Well, money is the most important thing. I like the deck boat for the open space but I need something that will pull the kids on a tube. The cuddy cabin since I have a 3.5 year old so she has a place to chill, out of the sun if needed. Open bow since I loved riding in the front of a open bow when I was young. My main problem is I can't go much over $3000. I don't mind putting some elbow grease into one just don't want to have to overhaul the engine or outdrive. Don't have a lot of extra money to buy a lemon which is way i'm here asking the experts first. I greatly appreciate everyone's help on this matter.
