Before Starting an old Motor

OK, first off I have ordered the Selock and the actual OMC Manual. I have this motor which I think is a 1968 65hp SportFour 65853B. Ok the motors have not been fired up in many many years... So my question is what do I do first before I attempt to fire them up? Also I see alot of corroded wires which I will have to trace and replace (what kind of wire do I replace them with). Any help would be appreciated. I have a lot of work ahead and I don't want to make any major mistakes up front.<br />Thank you in advance.....
