I have the opportunity to purchase a 1990 Tyee 1850 from a trusted friends father. I have taken the boat out several times and the Wife & Kids love it. I have ran into a stumbling block I can't seem to find a resale price that matches the amenities the boat has. Seems these boats are more rare than I thought. Firstly it has a I/O chevy made V6 so parts are readily available. The other is the seating seems more fancy to put it simply the interior almost looks more like a higher end model than what I have seen pictured. I am looking forward to joining the boating community I just need some help from some people that know more than me obviously. Also are there any hidden issues with a boat that is almost twenty years old? Also this boat is the cleanest and well maintained boat I have seen or used I'm sure that affects resale value.

you could try Kelly, BOC or NADA.
For a 20 y.o., maintenance is gonna set the price.
Anything can happen on something 20 y.o.

Try shopping on Craigslist (see link below) or Ebay for used models similar to the one you are looking at. Then have a Lund dealer check it over for any hidden defects or maintenance issues, particularly electrical problems.

Here is a link to a website I use to do a national search on Craigslist. You can change the search criteria to suit your specific requirements. I did a 1988 to 1992 year search for Lund boats.

BTW: I have found Kelly or NADA meaningless for used boats.

I just bought an 86 4winns, while the boat is in good shape. Check every wire and clean all the ends with a wire brush and tighten them down, do a compression check, check the seal for the sending unit (assuming its a built in gas tank) if its not perfect just replace it now, check the carb and have it tuned as needed, check the floor for soft spots, check the stingers to see if they are rotted, check the transom for any sines of imperfections in the coatings and do a core sample if you can (wood only), replace the spark plugs and wires, nee battery, and get spare parts.

I am a new boater to and I am no expert at this, I gathered a LOT of info from this forum and thank everyone that has shared their knowledge, but these are some things I have ran into my self. I spent 3 days cleaning and going over every little thing that could leave me stranded on the water. After I went through it all and found some things that I should have looked at before I bought it, I feel better about being out on the water with it.
