New to operating boat motors and just bought small jon boat with 1970 20 hp Johnson. The motor is hand steered and controlled from the motor. however, the previous owner rigged up an electric start and throttle in front of boat that is easy to operate. The question is, does that setup prohibit me from using the throttle controls on the motor steering handle? I am unable to twist the throttle into action...I have never operated one from the handle throttle, am I missing something?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

Don' know poole,
It just depends on kind of set-up the last owner left ya with. He could have gutted the twist throttle to make the remote throttle work or there may be an adjustment to loosen to let the twist throttle work or it may be all crudded up. Best bet iz to get yourself a manual for that engine or at least look at another engine like yours ta see what it's suppose to look and act like.

g/luck & c/6

Hooty
