Re: Beginner Wakeboard
Your definitely going to need a big board, I would guess at least 145cm, but take a look at each boards weight rating. You will see that many weight ratings on larger boards say 180lbs and up, however I dont know if they are anticipating 280lbs, as the the board will be sitting lower in the water. Check out wakeworld.com they have an excellent section on wakeboard reviews that gives all the weight ratings on each board and reviews from riders. Hereis the link to board reviews -

I took a quick look through some of the big names and the only board I saw with a higher weight rating was the 2008 Liquid Force Trip 146, which has a weight rating of 200 lbs and up compared to the weight rating of 180lbs and up on other larger boards. The other modle LF trip did not come in this big of a size. I have no experience riding this exact board, and it is rated as intermediate board, however it has large fins (1.7") which are good for beginners.
I suggest you call a wakeboard shop and talk to someone there. Check boardstop.com out or give them a call at 800-stop411, they have good customer sevice and can help you out.
Let us know what board you end up with. This could help other people.
