Green is big business now a lot of money is being made and being backed by govt agenda's..now who do you recruit the young of course. i live in a very green community and listen to this all the time some of it makes sense some of it is absolute rubbish..that is most of it.

You have hit the nail on the head. The "green" is the dollars collected by those that perpetrate this ideologue. It is easy for the young generation of "takers" to talk this green stuff and not realize how little they are actually doing to protect the environment. Talk is cheap..are they willing to give up all their toxic battery operated toys, their fashion clothes made in china with high sulphur coal, their cars (remember ONE family car?)their fast food and star bucks waste, etc, etc. Electric cars make me laugh, a ton of toxic waste on wheels and most of that energy still comes from fossil fuel.

Actually .. I believe in the kiddos of our offspring to lead us into a better way to deal with Energy.

Thats what its all about right ? Energy. ..

We all need it and then next 5g -9g is going to have to use it in better ways then our Gen has.

Energy is life .. it creates water/food/shelter.

Energy is free given .. those after us need to figure out how to harness it. Too supply .. not greed ..

YD.

I hope so because they are consuming more energy and are more dependant on it than my generation ever was. The standard electric service on a house today is 200 amps,in my day it was 60 amps. Sure, cars only got 15 mpg but we had only one not 4 or 5. We did not have CFLs but we did not stay up all night and if we did, it was in one room with the light from the tv. We did not burn gas to eat out. We did not not shop in air conditioned mega malls and our homes were cooled with fans and plenty of shade trees. We knew how to sleep in a cold room.
Your right about greed and that is exactly what the younger generation is all about...they want a free ride and be able to keep their stuff. Physics states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed,it can only be transferred from one form to another. Until people get away from the pipe dream that someday someone will discover some magic form of energy we will never go back to being green.

Hmm, while this thread may make some feel better it doesn't help with the very real problems we (the human race) face concerning how to support 7 billion (and counting) people on this old rock of ours.

we could start by not turning food into fuel

Like Bubba said it all comes down to population. The world population is doubling every 40 years or so. So unless some type of world population control is implemented, the conservation of food, water, and energy will become irrelevant.

We may have to spay and neuter our humans!!:D

Well said here are a few facts:Green River Formation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Green River Formation contains the largest oil shale deposits in the world. The 213 billion tons of oil shale contain an estimated 3 trillion US barrels of shale oil, up to half of which is estimated as recoverable or about equal to all the entire world's proven reserves.[11] [12] That ladies and gentelmen is enough oil for america for 400 yrs.

North Dakota

Oil production from the North Dakota portion of the Bakken shale formation topped 600,000 barrels a day for the first time in July, up 69 percent from a year earlier.

The Bakken stretches into South Dakota, Montana and Saskatchewan, but the majority of production comes from North Dakota, O?Neill said.

The actual oil feild runs from Colorado to Sashatchewan..an 600 yr supply of oil..For the math guy's at a royalty of $10.00 per barrel and america's daily barrel use of 19 million barrels a day how long does it take to pay a 16 trillion dollar debit. No polotic's know these are well known fact's..be informed

Remeber the entire worlds population would fit in the state of Texas..and that's housing by the way. The world would be the playground.....Humanity is a very small part of this earth...But our ego's fill the void up quiet nicely...
