I appreciate your thoughtful response. I had a great career in the Marines and saw many places in the world. I had the opportunity to serve as a Detachment Commander in charge of the Marines at the US Embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia from 1985 to 1987, prior to the war in 1989. When people in America talk about our country, they just don’t have a clue about life in other countries and especially countries that were or are communist countries. I lived in Yugoslavia when it was. I was followed by their security forces everywhere I went. The people were very controlled by their government. They were told were to live and work. Very much controlled and the people that worked around the Embassy were very careful about what they could do and say. It was a eye opening experience for me and my family. So we are truly blessed to be Americans and grateful for the opportunities that we have! We must always remember that Freedom is not free and that we should always remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our Country and the Freedoms we have today! As the Marines motto says Semper Fidelius which means “Always Faithful” to God, Country, Family and Corps!
