Hi guys:

I am getting ready to put the outdrive back on my Alpha Gen 1.

I have been reading the posts and several people have mentioned that they prefer the aftermarket gaskets that are wider.

What brand of gasket are they referring to?

I'm not even sure what brand I used in the past, there was never a leakage issue for me.

However, if there is a better gasket brand, I want to use it.

Thanks
Steve

I really like the Tungsten Marine gaskets. Just used one this week. They stick out more but are much less liable to pooch out.

I've always used genuine and never had an issue...

With the as new really clean Gen 2 outdrive I use either the OEM or the Tungsten and they all work perfectly. I bought a bunch of the Tungstens back when my original beat up Alpha 1 would pooch out the gasket whenever I tried OEM ones. The Tungsten gasket didn't do that if I snuck up on the torque settings. Seemed like that sealer bead made things a lot worse when the drive went together.
