Bellhousing question

I am in the process of replacing my bearing and bellows, and while cleaning off the old bellows adhesive I noticed that the exhaust port on the bellhousing is damaged. Apparently the clamp was tightened too much and the screw section of the clamp dimpled the port making it out of round and cracking it a little on the inside.

I assume since the exhaust doesn't have to be 100% water tight that this is not an issue, but since I will be putting new bellows on as opposed to a tube, should I bend it back out to make it round, or just leave it alone? It doesn't appear to be bad enough to necessitate replacement, especially at what new/used bellhousings cost.

Thanks,

Re: Bellhousing question

Since it's a casting, you may well end up doing more damage to it trying to whack it back into shape. You might try some JB WELD on the crack to "round" it out and prevent leakage.

Ayuh,........ I'd Leave it Alone,...... Bending it back will just Break it......

The Exhaust is Wet, Inside,+ Out....... No reason to make a Tough Job Worse.......
