bellowing steamy vent problem..

All,
Has anyone experienced a bellowy steamy oil coming from the vent tube on an 89' mercruiser 470, 224 CDI motor when the engine oil is still new looking and the head checks out okay? ? Really stuck on this one...

Found your Other Post on this same problem.

Nothing in the exhaust system will cause the problem for the fact that the exhaust would push the water out the exhaust while it's running, not suck it back into the engine and blow it out the crankcase vent.
The INTAKE manifold however does have antifreeze going thru it. Perhaps it's cracked inside.

Thanks, for your suggestions. I will look at the intake. I have ruled it out, but now that you raised it as a possible problem, it could very well be the source. Would you suggest a visual inspection or taking it to a dealer? (I would really like to try to save a few bucks)

I have two oil lines connecting to the bottom of the intake manifold (oil cooling perhaps) and a thin plate right under the carb that looks to have a gasket to it. Do you have any suggestions for that? I am not familiar with how that whole piece operates. Again.., thank you,

I further looked at the cylinders rotating the crank and found that my 1 & 3 cyl's are pitted with wide depression area in them. The #1 is the worst of them all (probably from sitting w/water in them). BUMMER.. Looks like the piston took a turn and bit a chunk out of the wall. Looks like at least .30 over woud do it , but probably going to scrap it and sell off the parts. I have the other block, but time and lack of money...thing...
