A silly question but I'm paranoid...I want to get things going on the boat next weekend and first up is installing the drives. Bellows adhesive says it should be 65* to apply but Friday is about to be like 45-50. Does it really matter if it's cold out? This would be just for the big O ring and to hold the water Oring in place.

I never use adhesive on the o-ring, or the water tube ring either. I use a dab of grease, never had an issue losing them when installing. I hate cleaning the old glue off at next service. Changed a lot of drives and never had a failure. Other opinions may vary......

I never used adhesive on the big ring and used a little grease on the water inlet oring just to hold it.

Last time I also did grease the water pickup Oring, but the service manual specifies to glue the big rubber ring. I was just concerned the low temps may mess up the bond of the glue but I guess it's really just contact cement so it will probably be fine.

The adhesive only holds the gasket in place while the outdrive is being installed. Once the outdrive is bolted in place the adhesive serves no purpose.
