Bellows adhesive question

Just because Searay didn't use adhesive does not make it right. Read the manual, follow the manual and you will not have problems. If you do, something else is going on. I've been using ALL the Merc manuals for over 30 years, and I'm yet to be lead astray... If you follow the manual and still can't get it right, time to diagnose what's actually wrong... If you think you found a 'better way', chances are all you've done is mask an underlying problem. And problems like that will ALWAYS come back harder and stronger, and bite you right in the wallet!

I'd say use it because you can be sure that the sealing surface on the gimble housing flange is not 100% perfect and water molecules are very small, easy for them to get though tiny gaps. When I did the one on my Cobra I also followed the manual and used the OMC gasket sealer, and after a season moored in salt water a totally dry bellows inside when I had the drive off to check it....

talking bellows, just to be certain, when looking at the side of a 4.3 merc, the very top bellow, is the drive? the one below is exhaust right?
