Re: belt replacement

Nope that is the only way, when you do it tie a second belt on it so when you need a new belt again you will not have to remove the mount again.

Re: belt replacement

Lol. Its not funny, but I used to have the same type boat. Had the belt pop on me at the lake one day. Had an extra belt with me, but with that lovely setup you cant do crap with it. Ended up renting a motor lift, to hold the motor in place while i removed that front mount and replaced the belt.

Deffinately put you an extra one around that bad boy if you can in case it pops again. The guy that designed that setup was an idiot!

Re: belt replacement

are you lot sure?

just remove the two bolts running fore to aft on the engine mount spacer below the alternator.

forgive me if they didn't have it on the 88 model

Re: belt replacement

OMC didn't use the spacer block, only Mercruiser.

I didn't know for sure, but I did know OMC did not use the spacer, and that Bayliner used OMC's in that era. Put 2 + 2 together and you get 4. Educated guess.
