Bennett Trim Tab switch upgrade

Hi:

I have a 1981 Sea Ray 260 that I bought 3 years ago.

The boat has a Bennett hydraulic trim tab setup that is pretty old.

The old-style switch is starting to malfunction (physically broken) and one of the actuators is intermittent.

I will troubleshoot the actuator problem (thanks to previous posts by Tabman).

Since I have to replace the switch anyways, I was thinking of upgrading the setup to the switch that also indicates the tab position. I realize I have to replace the upper part of the actuators. Has anyone done this upgrade?

Or should I just do the electric actuator retrofit?

Thanks
Steve

Ohhhhhh Yes

Added Auto Trim Pro (ATP) to mine and had all kinds of issues. It is working now for the most part but still goes wacky now and then.

In short, I wanted auto trim retract because one hinge was broke when boat went on the lift. Instead of getting just auto retract I got ATP. After several unit exchanges and different placements I'm working. If I had to do it all over again I would stick with Bennett and do like ATP but maybe just get auto retract

I added a TPI2000 Tab Position Indicator to my Bennett tabs.
I still use the original switch with it.
My actuators had the Potentiometers in them already, although it's easy to add them.
It was a simple install.

I am going to add the EIC5000 kit, which adds the position sensing only.

Hopefully this will be less trouble than alldodge had!
