does anyone have one and if so are they experiencing the same as me I have 4 people in the front and 3 in back and the 150 yamaha seems to be ventilating and not allowing the boat to plane, maybe engineering flaw with short express center toon causing alot of turbulant water splashing all over the sides of motor. and it just wont get up and run.

Hi Sweetwater and welcome to the forum. You might want to take this over to the Bennington owners forum. There has been some discussion on the Express toon lately, although I do not remember anyone having problems with ventilation. I would not think that your weight distribution should not be a problem. What hole is your motor mounted in? Is it all the way to the bottom? Also what prop are you running? Could it be a spun hub?

yes the motor is all the way down and is a 20 " shaft, however the center toon is about 6feet forward of the engine bracket and I think this may be causing some prop problems with ventilating, even with just a couple of people and planed off I can still feel the engine slipping and not biting like it should. going about 3000 rpm I have water coming out and up and spraying all over the sides of the engine cove, doesn't seem right

Make your dealer aware of the problem, that is where you will get this fixxed, Bennington takes good care of thier owners but you need to let your dealer know there is a problem, noone here can fix it.

I am in the weld shop at Bennington but this is way above my pay grade, we sell quite a few of the express boats and I have never heard of anyone having problems but then again I rarely see a built boat and don't have anything at all to do with dealers, as I said let your dealer know you think there is a problem and they should take care of you.

thank you I have yesterday dropped it off at the dealer and I am sure I will hear something back soon, again thanks for your reply, I really have had fun with it for a couple of months now but this weekend was the first time I put 5-6 people on it and the performance was horrible. I even called Bennington and asked if I could change the center tube to maybe an eliptical tube and add strakes to the outside toons and make it esp package, they say no, but the boat to me is useless if I cant take 6 people and plane off, my 24 bay flats boat by sea pro would jump up and go with 8 people

I'm sure you can make it an ESP but that would require a rather large check from you, it is way more involved than a express tube, I can make one of them in about 40 minutes total where an elliptical is more like 3-4 hours and alot more aluminum and it would require pretty much rebuilding the entire boat.

Maybe have someone move to the back next time, the boat even with the express tube is still sensative to loading as all pontoons are, see what your dealer has to say.

You stated that your motor has a 20" shaft. Did you order your boat with a 20" transom? I believe that a 25" transon is standard for a Bennington but you can order it with a 20". Hopefully your dealer can solve this problem for you.
