Bent flange on lower unit

I'm not sure what the piece is called but it's where you would mount one of those plastic wings which are designed to help with getting your boat on plane. The flange (for lack of correct terminology) on the right side of my johnson OB is bent upward at a pretty good angle. How do I flatten it out without breaking it? Thanks.

VERY carefully. I wouldn't mess with it, unless it is causing a problem for the installation of something.<br /><br />If you are considering installing a fin, I wouldn't.

Its commonly (incorrectly) called the cavitation plate. It's actually the anti-ventalation plate or AV plate. <br /><br />What year and hp are you working with? The model number will tell all.

If the bend does not have a crack in it, you can probably hammer it back, that has been my experience. Go carefully, and see what happens. Hold a short lenght of 2x4 on the underside while hammering.
