I hit a log with my 150 Mariner while fishing the other day. At first I thought everything was Ok, no visible damage, no performance or handling problems. After I got home and checked closer, I discoverd that I had a slight bend in my prop shaft causing a wobble in the prop. Is this something I need repaired a.s.a.p or can I live with it for a while?

Re: Bent Prop shaft

You could tear up your entire gearcase running with a bent prop shaft. At a minimumm you will probably take out the seals.

Prop shafts are expensive, but can be straightened by a machine shop. Get it fixed pronto.

Re: Bent Prop shaft

Thanks for the response guys. Looks like I had to learn the hard way about running fast on unfamiliar water.
