Wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or knows enough about outdrives to give some advice here. Last summer I hit some submerged rocks and did some good damage to my outdrive. The shop took it all apart and gave their recommendation to the insurance company. They approved the replacement of the lower unit, but rejected replacement of the verticle drive. The shop said it was slightly bent (I believe he said something like it is bent enough to be out of Volvo's specs).
Anyway, the first time I took it out after this I noticed that when I put it in gear to go the engine tried to die. I did this a few times and it kept trying to die. Eventually afeter 5 minutes or so, it seemed to warm up and I was able to get going. Is this something that could be caused by a bent vertical drive? Wondering if I should go back and fight the insurance company on it since it is definitely not back to the pre-loss condition. This is a Volvo SX outdrive.
