Re: best battery?

I didn't know that Deka made Duracell batteries. If I had known that I might not have purchased it. I had a Deka battery in my Tundra and I only got 2 years out of it. The only reason I replaced it with another Deka was due to a fairly good pro-rate on the warranty so the cash outlay was not that high.

2 years ago I bought 3 batteries from Bass Pro. They were on sale and made by Deka. They have been very good and I recommend them. I have had Deka batteries in the past with good success.

Re: best battery?

I wanted to follow up on my original post....

I did some research and YES, most batteries are made by the same company, just have different labels and warranty on them...so I went with one from WALMART I went with an EVER START 635 crank amp battery. It has turned over my 90 hp evenrude flawlessly, worked the on board lighting and even used it several times to start another motor I'm working on which has been HARD STARTING (Lots of cranking time) and the ONLY charge I put on it was when the boat was running. The battery was $58 and I have full faith Ill get several more seasons out of it. I would buy two of these instead of one battery of double the price ANY day!

Re: best battery?

When I replaced mine , I ended up with one from advance auto simply because most are made by the same company and advance is close by and they do back up their warranty.

Re: best battery?

I happened to be at Sam's Club today and snapped a couple of pictures of Energizer deep cycle battery specs vs the Optima 34DC deep cycle. The Energizer 27DC was $79.87 and had a RC of 180 minutes. The Optima 34DC had an RC of 120 minutes and was $174.52. Those Optima batteries would have to sing me to sleep, do the dishes, and wax the boat before I would speed that kind of money on a battery with such whimpy capacity numbers. I can buy two Energizers and have money left over for a couple cases of adult beverages. Do they last longer?? I would hope so but I doubt they will last 2-1/2 times the Energizer. Even if they did, most people will sell the boat before the before ANY battery dies (provided it is properly taken care of) so why spend the extra money.

Well said spent a lot of money back in 2009 blue top. 2012 its dead....... bad cell out of warranty. The orignal 79 battery from bi-mart is still running like a champ..Case closed
