In the past I have used Performance Boat Works located in Sherwood, AR, but recently I can't get anyone on the phone and when I drove by the other week the shop was closed up.... soooo anyone in the Little Rock area have any recommendations? I was hoping not to have to drive down to the lakes for service... and there are a few shops around Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood area. Anyone deal with any these that they recommend? Thanks for any input!

It's a 15.5' 1986 Sea Nymph fish n ski with a 50hp outboard model E50BELCO. I have a thread on the restore here if ya want to check it out. I need to get the motor remounted and installation of a CMC PT130... i don't have access to a motor lift or anything like that so i figured id get a shop to do it. Figured i prob use them for maintenance as needed too. I just can't find reviews of any local shops. Performance Boat works is the only one i had recommended to me and they did great work but it looks like they may be gone now. Do you use anyone local or do u head up to heber/greers/ hot springs areas? Thanks for the response

Fortunately I haven't had need of service in a long time (if you hear a noise it's me knocking on wood), at least not the kind I can't do myself. However, the next time I do I'll be using these guys.
http://www.riversidemarine.info/ Haven't had personal experience with them, but lots of guys I know and trust give them top marks. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call. I've also traded with Art's Marine for years and still would if they worked on the black motors. I can vouch for them personally if you have a Johnnyrude.

I appreciate the info... was leaning towards Art's as i have been in there and talked to them personally and its right around the corner from the VA where i work. He seems like a straight up guy not gonna string ya along. Ill check out riverside. Yeah I can pretty much do all the maintenance work but wanted to get the motor (which is an Evinrude sorry forgot that part) and CMC done right so i dont look back while on the water and see an empty spot where they once were mounted! Maybe ill see ya round on the waters! Thanks again

EDIT: Oh and i did call Riverside earlier this morning and they said they could do that type of work... guess now its a choice... hmmmmm

I really miss the guy that used to run the counter at Art's. Don't know if you ever talked to him, but his name was Larry and he was just really cool. He was never too busy to give me free advice. He moved on to a better opportunity a year or so ago. The guy on the counter now is fine too, but he's no Larry. Think Ed and Ron are the two front of the house guys who have been there forever. Can't think of a better use for an old Safeway;) What do you do at the VA if you don't mind my asking?

Piece, for goodness sake, we've seen the kind of work you're capable of doing. You can SURELY handle this yourself. I am by no means mechanical and I've removed/remounted my outboard a couple times. And yours is even lighter than my V4s. All you need is something strong overhead (beam, tree, etc) and a cheap come-along (harbor freight). http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/ezmobee/New Boat/DSCF2257.jpg

Make sure you 4200 your bolts real well so they don't leak.

Incoop: I went in there to find a tach for my motor and was talking to them... not sure who it was but they were pretty straight forward. He was asking me all about the restore because he stated that he gets people in all the time that wants him to mount motors to rotten transoms and stuff like that all the time.

As for the VA... i dont mind at all... I'm a doctor of physical therapy in the outpatient clinic. Graduated from UCA last August and had two clinical rotations here at the VA and when i was on my last they offered me a position so i took it. Its the environment here that i like the most... Great co workers who have been working together for 20+ years... then there's me at 26...

EZ: I know I know I know I know I know I know... i stress bout things... figured id pawn the work off... but ive been caught now... hmmmm maybe i can tempt some help with a couple of frosty good ones. Any experience with the Trim & tilt?... i was gonna see if anyone had made a guide on here. Also any helpful hints on remounting? does the motor height change with the T n T?

Mounting the TnT should be just the same as mounting the motor. Can't imagine that would be difficult. Yes it will effect the motor height. There is a formula, although I forget the exact numbers, that says for every X inches of setback you can raise the motor X inches. With no setback a good starting point is with the cav plate located even with to about an inch above the boat's keel. You're probably in the 1-2 inches above category (try to find the formula).

^^^ That's a link to the brochures section of CMC's web site.

You can totally do this on your own, I'd never want to pay what they would charge for this type of job. As soon as my transom is back in...and I get a new motor, I will be doing the same on my own.

The manual for the bracket has pretty good info and photos. Depending on if the motor is clamp on or bolt on there are two configurations.

Good luck to ya!:)

I'm notorious for taking threads off topic, so I'll confine my next question to PM. Please check yours at your leisure.

Incoop: PM received and responded... no harm done with your posts...

EZ: I knew about the cav plate being about even with the bottom of hull and figured the set back would have an effect. I will have to look for formula. Appreciate the info... im sure the manual tells me just haven't read through it yet

Huron: I bought the unit new and have the manual as well as just downloaded it here on my work comp... Im pretty OCD bout things soooo ill be learning up real good... If ya find any helpful hints out there Huron send my way... itd be appreciated!
