Just rebuilt my 5.7l gearcase cobra outdrive from bottom up. Near GLM heavy duty gearset and dog. Not sure what the best lube would be to use. I have a couple bottles of Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75w-90. Is this the correct lube? I've been searching online and have found people using several different kinds.

Any gear oil will work fine, if no water getting in, and drive is filled properly through the middle plug.

I know with my colbalt i have to run a special high sythetic that i can only buy at the marina for the upper gearcase, the lower gearcase i have to run another type since it has the electric shift sterndrive. So with that being said i would look into a little more my friend!!

Bombardier sells the updated version of the OMC hi vis gearcase oil but I have used the Mercruiser/Quicksilver High Performance gear lube which you can get just about anywhere and it works fine in a Cobra.
