Okay. This reply confused me. I know the X91 is a 3000 peak, so why would an X15 or X16 be more?<br /><br />Went and looked and I guess the new models are LCX-15 or LCX-16, way out of my price range but they list as 8000 peak. Guess I could use the power to stun the fish below me

Yes they cost a lot for the color models. The lcX-15mt monocrome model is not too bad but it comes with only a transducer with temp. If you want a speed paddle wheel a second and third temp sensor for livewells or fish box that all big buck and extra. The good thing is if take care of them they will last a lifetime. May need new transducer after about 10 years. I will say this about them. The color models have the best contrast I have seen on any model. You read your helm unit from the transome.

i just bought a magellan marine gps this year and had no problems yet. my father has a Garmin that works ok too but i think the magellan is easier to use. either way get the WAAS. good luck. i use the garmin 240 fishfinder and the thing is excellent!!!

What does waas stand for? I'm looking for a fishfinder/gps in the $150-250. What features should I look for? Also do all gps units have speedometers. I was told they do by a salesman. Thanks

Ray, all of the above advice and testimonials are 4 years old. When it comes to available units it might as well be 100 years old.

I suggest that you post a new thread (in the Electrics, Electronics and Trollers Forum) to get current advice and go to the Garmin and Lowrance websites to get details and features of current models.

I agree with JB information very old in this thread. WAAS is Wide Area Augmentation System. It is a Error correction system. Hard to find a unit that does not have it today.

Love my Garman 188c. Especially like being able to customize it so the data I want to see is on the screen I'd like it to be on. No tsure if they all do this but it sure is handy!!
