Best Kind of Boat Cover?

Following up on the previous post, let me ask -- what is the best kind of boat cover to buy? It is a 16ft open runabout and I live in SW Florida  , where rain, sunshine, leaves and twigs from trees, and mold can be problems. (I won't mention the "palmetto bugs" -- big darn pesky roaches -- but that's another issue -- "roach motel", etc.) In any case, right now I have a fairly light canvas cover that keeps debris out, but not the rain, yet it allows the boat to "breathe," so it can dry out fairly fast so mold will not grow. Sometimes I wonder if I would be better off with an inexpensive plastic type cover that would keep the rain out also -- and our rainy season is about to start in mid June. WHAT ALTERNATIVES DO YOU SEE? WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE?

I grew up in Miami. When ever someone mentions Florida the frist thing that comes to mind are those pesky "palmetto bugs". Big roaches that can fly.

Get yourself an Attwood Dura Vent cover. Cheap, 100% waterproof, breathes, lightweight, etc. Do a google and find one. Get the Attwood pole and strap setup too for a quick easy install.

Can't say enough good things about the cover.

Best boat cover? A garage. But you can't really take it with you when trailering a boat. :)

I had a custom boat cover made from the manufacturer (Lund). It is a heavy canvas and keeps all water out. It has something like a 10 year warranty and in Arizona the sun eats up everything before 10 years (as far as boat covers). It probably won't help you because it does not let the boat breathe too well. Sorry
