Getting ready to put my Bayliner up on the market - upgrading to a V-drive for next season.

In your experience, what are the best online places to put a boat - aside from your local CL. While it is in excellent shape, I realize that nobody is going to drive cross country for it - so listings that are generally filtered by a state would be best. Free is a plus too.

A new place I found which is gaining traction is Local Sales Net "golsn.com" It is a free service like CL and is starting to gain traction but still has a ways. Flebay is always a good spot but some of the fee's are getting up there.

You beat me to it, QC........

I still think a lot of people look at CL. When I bought my boat and streetrod, I looked on CL from all of Mn, WI, N IA and the UP......

And it'll wind up there for sure, just looking for some additional options. And I know as well as you do that it is the wrong time of year to be a seller around here but I don't have to get it sold to buy the replacement - but it would be nice ;)

I've used powerboatlistings successfully. It's free and pictures can be loaded to the ad.

I have used CL and it works pretty good. I also got a few bites from ebay, local people too.

Craigslist would be your best place this time of the year, and you can list them in different cities in your region. Most of the boats around here are sold there.

Later in the Spring, try EbayMotors.com and Boattraders.com which will cost you to list. It's a little early in the season to expect much traffic.

+1^^^ When there are temps in the -50's and snowstorm after snowstorm after snowstorm very few are thinking about buying. I would start off with the free sites and move towards the pay sites as the weather gets warmer.

Re: Best online locations to sell boat?

unless its an iceboat, it probably wont sell in MN until April.

however CL, Boat Trader, the local newspaper, and iboats.com are all great locations.

sold 3 boats on craigslist. the remainder with local newspaper.

Maybe, although the boat I'm looking at tomorrow might get sold in Jan ;)

I've got it up on CL in MN and West WI, will likely put it up on Boat trader later in the season. Local newspaper is a good idea I hadn't thought of.

Re: Best online locations to sell boat?

MN in January? Umm, are you sure? My two cents, do not list it unless you are DEEPLY discounting it. Buyers that scan CL and eBay this time of year are looking for a bargain (REAL bargain) and if that isn't what you are offering forget it. If you run an ad thinking you'll just see if you get any bites it's a bad idea. People will see it now, see it again in the spring and assume there must be something wrong with it or it would have sold.

Pretty common to put them up for sale in Jan/Feb during boat show time ;)
