Best Paint primer for Saltwater Starcraft

Hey guys I have been searching the forum until my eyes crossed. I know a lot of you guys are saying Rustolem But I will be mostly using it in saltwater. I am going to strip it and prime it first. There are is so much info on the internet not sure the best route to go. Is Pettit paint systems any good? any info would be appreciated. Should I use a antifouling paint on the bottom it is going to be a trailered boat?

Look up 545 primer ..

Ayuh,.... The very Best primer is,... DON'T Strip it....

Sand it smooth, 'n prime, 'n repaint it...

Rustoleum will stand up to saltwater, just Fine...

Which Product ?

The Rusto might hold up to the primer..but if the primer fails ..there goes your rusto with it ..

"sand/prime/paint" is a Very good response .. however.. HOW to do the process is a bit harder

Well,... If the old paint is holdin', 'n I sand it smooth, I use Rusto grey primer then a color top coat of enamel....

If ya go to bare metal, Rusto has a primer for that too....

My point is, use the Same paint System, from bottom to top...
Then there's no Surprises like when the top coat of lacquer bubbles yer enamel bottom coat of primer off...
