This is going to sound strange...... anywhere you can find it. Most pistol ammo is in short to zero supply, .223 rifle the same and most every caliber except for the larger hunting ammo. Prices are going nuts!!

Today I purchased the last 2 boxes of .223 (55 gr FMJ) which for me is just "go bang" ammo. When I shoot in competition I only shoot my reloads and every round is to my standards.

What type of ammo are you looking for? Just about everyone is out of stock to include the wholesaler's too.

Everybody is looking for "cheap ammo." It's long gone, at least for now. If you find ammo, you are doing good....I'm glad I reload. Sure, the cost of components have gone up, but it is still way cheaper than store bought ammo.

Re: Best place/cheapest to buy ammo??

In November we have a large gun show here in portland. It is one of several thru out the year. It is the one I usually go to. There is one large Ammo dealer there. Last November he had pallet after pallet that were empty, cleaned out. All of the common surplus calibers were gone by the second of day of a three day show.

There has been at least two shows since. I did not go to them but heard that the same situation existed, ie, NO AMMO left.

Glad I got mine. I even have a case of 8mm Mauser for which I have not yet obtained a suitable specimen to use it with.:(

Try "midwayusa.com" Their prices have been fair.

This might get deleted, but I have 850-900 rounds of Wolf hollow point 7.62x39 ammo in original boxes that I will part with for 475 plus shipping. Try finding it at that price now. The website listed above has Russian 7.62x39 for 37.50 for 20 and, of course, they're out of stock. I'm selling it for less than half that. It's going up in leaps and bounds, and hollow point is more than FMJ. PM me if you're interested. My price will increase again very soon.

learn to reload-Dillon makes the best equipment for the general user-it is only expensive the first time. After that ammo is 15th the cost of store bought and of equal quality if you take some time to learn and a little effort to do it right.
