Ok, I'm mounting new lights on my trailer. What is the best place? I can either mount them on the frame under the boat, or on the vertical guides. I'm thinking the vertical guides would be best to help loading at night. Anyone more experienced have a suggestion? Thanks

The higher the better. Keep them out of the water.

You might want to check your local laws also. There is a legal height they have to be at. In FL you will get a ticket if you only have them mounted on your guide poles. The problem is the ones that get submerged all the time blow out a lot so then you get a ticket for faulty lights.

So I did both, I mounted guide post lights on the tips, LED post lights in the middle of the guide poles, and had the standard trailer lights at the bottom

Now I am assuming your guide poles are 6' tall like mine were.

I made my own guides and put el-cheapo lights on them.
3 seasons so far without a problem.
And YES- I've moved the license plate down to the bottom of the frame and added a waterproof LED light.
