I have a '77 115hp Tower of Power and I'm wanting to do a carb rebuild on it. I'm leaking fuel when priming the bulb as well as having some issues where it dies when accelerating quickly. My question is, as an alternative from getting hosed in the wallet by the guys at the local Marinas, where are the best/cheapest places on-line to get parts for these old mercs? iboats? Amazon?

Also, I've never done a total carb rebuild but as long as I have them off I'm willing to go the distance. When purchasing a "Carb rebuild kit" will that contain EVERYTHING I need for the rebuild including needles and seats or do I need to get those in a seperate order? When you look on-line at the "kits" it seems to just have gaskets and o-rings so I don't know if you get the needles and seats also.

If anyone has done a carb rebuild on a Tower of Power recently and found a good price on the rebuild items I'd appreciate knowing where you got your parts from.

Good boating......

Try ebasicpower, iboats and crowleymarine. Usually gaskets are seperate. Inlet needles and seats can be separate. Floats are separate. You probably need all of those. 3 sets are required.

They are $15.00-$17.00 bucks a piece here at iboats cant imagine theyre going to get much cheaper.

They have all the gaskets ,fuel screen, seat and needle for float in them. part number is 18-7013 or 18-7021 depending on which carb you have on your motor

They dont have the jets or floats in those kits I guess they figure those other parts arent always replaced when your just cleaning your carbs

Just did it, got parts right here. Parts were perfect, rebuild easy. You should replace the floats too(don't come with any kits I found). I weighed my old floats on my gunpowder scale and the new ones were 25%-35% lighter. I think the old ones had soaked up some fuel. I doubt you will need new jets, just soak em and blow em out. You are not supposed to do this but I ran tiny wires from my welding torch tip cleaner through them for good measure. Did the fuel pump too and got the parts here at iboats. Engine runs like new now. 79, inline 6, 115hp.

edit: FYI the needles and seats did come included in the iboat rebuild kits.
