Why would he need to unhook the trailer? If the crank was in the way you could still angle the trailer and shoot in around it.

Really, I have to agree that is efficient use of the ramp and time. I think he should be applauded for not being the thread that reads "so he droped his trailer at the top of the ramp, backed down, took his time getting the ski in the truck, pulled up, hooked trailer..." see where this is going?

If it is an older truck, he probably does not care too much. If he is "somewhat" mechanically inclined, he has addressed the rear dif issue. If he is a complete moron when it comes to things like that...he will learn soon enough.

It's definitely redneck. Redneck is when instead of spending the money on something needed for an intended purpose you use something else that costs less that was not intended for that purpose yet it still achieves the desired result. We used to call that something else back in the day but it has since been deemed too politically incorrect.

How many people does it take to launch 2 jet skis with one trailer?

One gets er done, the other writes a dissertation on the topic and still has not launched a single jet ski. They then go on to get hired to educate your kids and try to make them less redneck, further degrading pure ingenuity and advancing liberal arts education.

Yup, I can say that, as I am one of them PhDs struggling to hand onto what little redneck I have left!

Have seen the stand up jet skis launched/retrieved in pickups and vans. 'Course, I'm in middle Georgia so there is an abundance of rednecks.

Back in mid '80s wife and I were having our first house built. Good ol' fella doing the clearing accidentally pushed a tree onto cab roof of his pickup with a bulldozer. He just used teeth on front bucket to toss tree off cab and kept clearing. He didn't even get of bulldozer to check out damage to the truck!

My latest rental property has a tiny back yard that is basically a parking pad. It's off an alley and I have to make a 62 point turn to get my truck in there, I've hit the fences on both sides and the garage across the alley. I don't care, it's a dented up rust bucket. It's hopped up Cummins engine, race built trans and dana 60 and dana 70 axles are in awesome shape though.

my f-150 is that long too. 8 ft bed and extended cab.
it can be hard to park in regular parking spots.

i think my truck is about 20 ft long. maybe 22

as far as the rear dif goes... Does it matter if you submerge it? What happens when it rains? You change your rear end fluid? I don't.

Hot diff dunked in cool water = water seepage past worn axle/pinion seal or through vent tube if not extended.

What happens when it rains?

It pours.

Submerging a hot diff vs rain splashing on it is two completely different things. I too used to offroad a lot and extended my vents.
If not, you'll suck water in past your seals.

I watched a local tribal member launch his purse seiner retrieval boat last year at our local ramp. The boat was on the flat bed trailer backwards (I assume he had loaded it with a hoist) He kept going deeper and deeper trying to get it float off the trailer, he then tied it off to the dock and attempted to pull it off, still didn't work. He was driving a newer Dodge Diesel 4x4 3/4 ton truck. He ended up backing the truck until the front tires were about 18-20 inches into the water, finally, the trailer and boat came loose and floated. He then drove the truck back up the ramp, opened the door to get out and at least a bath tub full of SALT water poured out of the cab. Then about an hour later a diver showed up to retrieve the trailer. Pretty expensive launch. Definitely not a red neck, if you know what I mean.
This whole event should have been captured on a video camera and post on "U TUBE". I think it would have been a hit. Something you see on FOX news.
You have to know what this type of boat is to be appreciative of this story. 18 ft long, 8 ft wide and 36 inches deep with a huge V8 inboard engine.

Simple fix to the vent problem. I ran a long hose back to the rear corner of my bed and up into the corner post, and even curled it over to point the opening down for rain avoidance.

I usually run them up to where the fuel filler is, behind the gas door.You can even put a ittle filter on the end if you so choose.
