I'm looking to buy a couple different gaskets for a 1971 Johnson outboard. There is hundreds of websites out there, with so many out there it's hard to know which one to trust. Anyway I got to buy a few gaskets and need to know which place is the best. I know this sites sells parts but it doesn't have parts for my older 1971 outboard...Thanks for the help in advance.

Sometimes the parts are here, but for the older motors the index isn't real good. I've located parts here by finding a part number on another site and then looking for that part number here.

For my 1982 Mariner I've had best luck with marineengine and Crowley - their index seem more complete for my motor.

Looking for the rubber seal that seats in the gears case on the lower unit that holds the gear oil in. None of the site have that gasket for some reason or another?

Reading where it's called a spaghetti seal gasket or something. Can I buy it by the foot? I just need about a foot to seal my lower gear case.

Most outboard repair shops have a roll of that.--Just buy what you need.

if the shop has been around for awhile, they should have it by the roll. laings has complete seal kits for the gearcase on that motor, but $30.

The spaghetti seal is sold in bulk by most Evinrude dealers. Part number: 309044
