I prefer Cuervo Espicial or 1800. When on a cheap streak (when am I not?) I buy Two Fingers.

Back in my wild days my favorite tequila was Tres Generationes(Three Generation). It was the smoothest one. I don't even know if they make it anymore. It came in a black bottle.

I really like Patron, but usually use tequila for margaritas. Patron is just too expensive for that IMO. Excellent for shots, though. I usually buy Cuervo 1800. A good compromise IMO. Pretty smooth for shots, makes excellent margaritas, and doesn't break the bank.

Re: best Tequila?

Don Julio has always been my standard. Cazadores is good too, and I like Cabo Wabo's Reposado as well. However, a friend got some stuff from a roadside vendor in Puerto Vallarta. The guy claimed to be a lost nephew of Jose Cuervo's  anyway, the stuff came in a mini barrel with a flippin' spigot. Awesome. Sombody needs to go back and get some more, long boat ride for me . . . :D

I'm probably gonna get slammed for this, but Patron has a harsh edge compared to Don Julio and the mystery stuff. I actually use it when I make high-end margaritas . . . Who knows what Sangrita is?
