best way to change zincs or magneems

3.0 merc fresh water<br /><br /> Should I change all the zincs (magneeziums ) at once or can I get away with changing one per year ?<br /><br />how many on the 3.0 liter<br /><br /> thanks :)

I can't see needing to change them that often in fresh water. Just inspect them and use common sense. If there's a lot of the anode left then just sand it a little to remove any surface corrosion and be done with it. If it's gone or almost gone then buy a new one.

A better question is what do you have on your boat right now? As far as I know all merc's are shipped from the factory with zinc anodes which are best in saltwater.If you are talking about changing to magnesium anodes for better freshwater protection, then I would change them all at the same time.In addition they should be cleaned periodically and replaced whenever they are more than 50% depleted. :D
