Re: Best way to fix holes and do body repair

Im not sure what year/make/model it is, the manuf. label was torn off of it along with the parts on the side that identify it. It's around a 79 or 80 by looking at it compared to other similar boats though, and it looks like a starcraft or seastar It's not 'fastened' to it, it looks like it slides into a channel in the rail, but not sure as I haven't started taking it off yet.

Thanks for the infoWoodonglass, and no worries for the misunderstanding Bond-o :)

If your boat is that old..then you probably will not be able to reuse the insert.

You might want to just tape it off.

YD could be correct. However my boat is 51 yrs old and the rub rail insert is as flexible as new. It just depends on how much the boat has been exposed to the elements over the years. If it appears to be hard and not very flexible then YD is correct you will prolly be better off, taping it off and not trying to remove it. Trying to find some of the Old stuff to match up is NOT an easy task.
