Seat boxes are nice way to go. Another option is the old-style benches, simple plank with padding that you can move around or remove for more space when you need it. I'd rather have open deck space and toss the goodies in a storage back up in front of my feet with a closed bow boat. As said by another poster, you'll have to experiment with seat/brother placement to get the weight distribution right. They can ride on coolers until you figure out the right spot for the seats/weight.

build a bench seat across the back like i did in my old glaspar. I built a box as you can see with a hatch for storage. I used marine ply to build the seat and covered it with some marine vinyl and foam from the fabric store. it worked great and i had tons of people sit back their with no problems

Wow, that looks great, and exactly what i'm going to try and build LOL. Where does it attach to the sides ? I'm not sure mine has such outstanding sides on it. Do you have any more shots of that, front and back perhaps ?

The person before me just put brand new floors/carpet in, and he wasn't certain what kind of wood his buddy put in, its solid as i rock, so i hate to take it up, but i would like to know what kind of wood it is... Also the transom i had checked out, and they said it looks fine, but i wanna take a closer look once i get the motor off tomorrow when i take my motor off and put it on my soon to have custom motor stand.

OK, i did the bench in the back thing, and hated it. it was fine for 2 kids to be back there, but put 2 adults, and the boat had a horrible time getting of plane. it was a cute set up, but just did not work. had a 50 evinrude on a 450 lb boat.

i ended up trashing the complete setup and going back to back..in-order to get weight forward.

i went back to one of your original post.

"I'm 220, my gf is 120, my bro is 210, that is who i would like to be able to boat around... mabey a few more people in the summer time, as we would go exploring with as many as we could fit in !

maybe with you and bro, in front seats, and 2 120 girls in back seat it might work, but with bro and GF in back seat, was the major problem i had.

just trying to save you some work and grief.

Don't forget that the outboard is loud. People sitting on a bench seat right in front of the outboard (especailly at WOT) will not hear anything you are saying. And it can get quite uncomfortable on the ears.

Yeah, both me and my bro's are all around 210 ish... I'm thinking of doing maybe a battery box that i'll build into the bow storage area, and extend the cables, the marine battery i have has gotta weight 65 lbs (costco large one) Maybe even relocate the gas to the front, i figure the more weight i put up there, easier it plains.

Did your boat have whale fins ? This one does, which i think is spos to help get up and out the water.

personally i will never have a whales tale, it puts the load on the motor which puts the load on the top of the transom, where it does not belong. get some smart tabs, and mount them on the bottom of the transom, where the lift belongs, and does not stress the motor mount, or the transom.

Yeah, when my new to me lower unit shows up, i'll probably just leave them off if thats the case... I had a local marine do some transom checks (Pushing on the motor / "Flex Test" and thumping around) They said it sounded fine, but once i get the motor off, anyone know if the metal riveted trip come off any way simple so that i could inspect the transom... Dont' wanna start putting lots of time and money in the boat, if the motor is gonna fall off while trying to get 4 people sigh seeing.

when you pull the motor, probe into the bolt holes, that will tell a good story. use 3M-4200 when mount new motor to seal the holes.

LOl, many years ago I had a small tiller steer outboard on a jon boat... kept it a few years and sold it.

Many years later I bought a 16ft Bass Tracker deep V aluminum boat with a 20HP Johnson (still have it) to run around the swamps in. First time I put it in the water, I realized why I sold the first one... after about 15-20minutes of running that thing WOT I was deaf!

I don't think I've had it back in the water 6 times since. Plenty of guys down here love em but I've grown accustomed to being away from the noise.
