took tasha's toy out for 1st time yesterday. 18' Aquatron 1998, 4.3 LX GEN+. recive this boat for free, as the prev. owner, left plug in and water intruded the engine. have gone thru engine, ran good. boat would not get out of the hole. all it did was stand up. i don't know is i have and outdrive problem, or a waterlogged hull. i drilled 2 1 1/4" test hole in floor 18" from tramson, then ran a 1/2" drill into foam. did not find water. should i drill more test holes?, like near the ski storage locker.

I’m no expert on this but it seams logical that the water would go to the bottom of the boat. Before you go drilling holes all over your boat though I think I would get it weighed on a truck scale, they are at just about every truck stop and are not all that expensive, I think it was around ten bucks last time I had it done. The 180 BR is 2059# dry and the 190 BR is around 2259#, if you have any other equipment on the boat don’t forget to take that in to account.

checked tongue weight today for the heck of it. put bathroom scale on bucket and lowered hitch. 180 lbs. i think this is right where it should be as the gas tank is centered over the axle(single Axle). thus i think i can rule out water logging. opinions please.

If it set with water in for very long, It's probably water logged to some extent, but, this "usually" isn't enough to keep one from going.
Is your trim putting the outdrive all the way down?
I've seen several boats taken apart that were waterlogged. Inboards, outboards...all would get up on plane and go. Just wouldn't go "as quick and fast" as they would when dried out.
The worst was a 21' bowrider. It was SOAKED. All the saturated foam was about 600lbs. That slowed the boat down, but, wasn't enough to keep it from planeing.

i've determined it is not waterlogged. read my post in Mercruiser forum. have we been hung out to dry by mercruiser? very interesting about developments happening to the 4.3L's 96 to 01.
