Re: Best way to trailer boat... (in ur opinion)
I think the best way is to crank it on with a power winch. A lot of times people gun it for the last few inches. What they dont realize is the propwash is blowing the sand bottom out of the ramp. Over time, this creates a hole.

Many of the smaller boaters newer know this, but when you're launching a trailer with a 26ft boat, and the trailer "falls" off the end of the ramp, it gets pretty tough to get it out. I once saw a guy with a FORD F530 Diesel Crew Cab Dually smoke the back tires trying to pull the trailer/boat combination out of the hole. (I didn't think this was possible, but he had them spinning on the dry concrete
) Long story short, he must have known somebody 'cause the very next week they shut the ramp down for a month to make repairs and lay new concrete.

Anyways, I think the best way is to drive her up as far as she'll easily go and winch out the rest. The power winch makes it easy for the steep ramps. I have yet to here someone complain at a busy ramp about the speed of someone winching their boat out. The complaints are about those who like to prep / unpack while on the ramp.

Just my opinion...
Nav
